Professor DR. MSA Siddiquee


Professor MSA Siddiquee will deliver the lecture on the topic. He is ex-professor of BUET and King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, KSA. Now, he is Application Engineer – Geotechnical at Bentley Systems Inc., Exton, Pennsylvania, USA. His brief biography is given below. Dr. Siddiquee has 30 years of non-linear Finite Element computation, consulting, research and teaching experience. He has worked on more than 100 projects involving: dams/embankments; roadway improvements; new railway track design; high-rise building foundations; industrial complexes; geotechnical earthquake engineering; storage tanks; wastewater treatment facilities. These projects have ranged from small-scale site investigations to complex studies and designs involving seismic stability and deformation analysis; liquefaction potential determination; soil reinforcement design; ground improvement techniques and deep foundation design and review. He has developed sophisticated realistic soil models using the precision element test results (Triaxial TC, TE) and developed a framework of User-material for commercial softwares e.g., Plaxis, Abaqus and Midas. He used the material models as user material in those commercial softwares to analyses/design regular geotechnical structures more realistically. He has authored several highly cited papers on these topics. He has special interests in: computer aided automated triaxial testing, numerical modelling of geomaterials, application of sophisticated material models using FEM, development of novel computational techniques, modelling of soft rocks, simulation of foundation construction with basements, developing geotechnical application software with GUI, soil-structure interaction for expansive soils, modeling of expansive soil and stabilization techniques, development of low cost automatic stress-strain measuring devices, use of Artificial Neural Network in geotechnical engineering and study of climate change scenarios in extreme weather zones of world.
